Alessandro Santo

Alessandro is a summa cum laude Economics & Finance graduate of Bocconi University of Milan, Italy and holds an MBA from Columbia Business School, where he actively engaged with the broader Columbia community.

Alessandro is the founder and chairman of the Lorenzo Santo Foundation, a small endowment supporting entrepreneurial youth in their studies.

I am currently choosing my next gig across a few options focusing on international funds looking to expand in Europe from Italy. Until late 2025, I was a co-founder and managing partner at Algebris Climatech, the €120m-target climate focused VC fund of €40b AUM Algebris Investments. Prior to Algebris, I've been leading my own family holding and private equity consultancy, Last Mile Ventures, closing around 15 deals and advising some of the most iconic PE firms on a range of value creation transactions. Before Last Mile, I was a GP with dPixel, a seed-stage VC firm in Italy, where I completed the angel deal on Iubenda, Italy's highest returning deal of the millennium (around 200x). I spent my foundation years in investment banking and consulting (Bain & Company).

I'm commonly portrayed as exuberant and natively optimist; I'm a keen networker and hold leadership positions for the Columbia Business School Alumni club, and NOVA, the organisation connecting Italian MBAs and powering Mentors4U, one of Europe's largest mentoring initiatives. During my free time, I play many sports with my son and negotiate 24/7 with my wife, which I pick as the exact opposite of me! 

As a member of Class 15, Alessandro was mentored by Alessandro Piol, founder and partner of Vedanta Capital.
