Althea Wishloff
Althea is an Indigenous person of the Gitxsan First Nation and currently resides in New York City (traditional homelands of the Lenape Peoples) with her family.
Althea graduated from the University of British Columbia and later went on to pursue her CFA, completing Level I and II. Althea was also an Adjunct Professor for five years at the Schulich School of Business, teaching private equity classes.
Outside of computer-land, Althea loves reading, biking, and playing bonus-mom to her young siblings.
Althea is a General Partner at Raven Capital, the first venture fund focussed on investing in Native-led and Indigenous-led companies. Humbly, Althea was the first Indigenous woman of Canada to become a GP at a venture firm. At Raven, Althea leads their U.S. practice and, while Raven is a generalist investor, Althea loves spending time with health and technology companies.
Prior to Raven, Althea was the co-CEO of Koble (acq: Dialogue Technologies), a perinatal digital health solution, and a pre-seed/seed-stage investor with Panache Ventures.
While startup boards occupy much of her time, she also loves working with community organizations: Althea is a Venture Partner at Adrenaline, an Advisory Leadership Member at MIT's Indigenous SOLVE Program, a Director for the Indigenous Leadership Circle, and a Instructor at the Rematriating Economies Apprenticeship.
