Beyond investing, Heeeun brings the same curiosity to the worlds of Korean fine dining, ceramics, and contemporary art, where she is a keen observer of how Korean culture travels globally. An avid reader and passionate traveler, she is based in Seoul.
Heeeun is a General Partner at Altos Ventures, a venture capital firm and SEC-registered investment advisor with over $10 billion in regulatory assets under management.
She leads investments in Korea and across Asia in consumer tech, AI, SaaS, content, and consumer brands. She joined Altos in 2014 as the founding member of its Korea practice and has since helped build one of the region's most distinctive early-stage investment platforms, serving as a long-term partner to founders building category-defining companies.
Her portfolio includes Hyperconnect, acquired by Match Group for $1.7B; Toss, Korea's fintech leader targeting a $10B+; Danggeun Market (Karrot), the country's largest neighborhood marketplace; and KREAM, a unicorn in the Korean resale market.
Under her leadership, Altos has built a portfolio of over 100 companies across Korea and Asia, deploying more than $12billion in capital and maintaining a disciplined pace of 8 to 10 new investments annually. For several consecutive years, founders have ranked Altos as one of their most preferred investors.
Before joining Altos, Heeeun founded IUM, Korea's first social dating app, which she grew into the country's leading player before her transition into venture capital. She has been recognized on Forbes Asia's 30 Under 30 in Finance and Venture Capital, received the Grand Prize at Korea's national women's entrepreneurship competition, and won the Prime Minister's Award at the Korea Internet Awards.
