Hyun Koo
Hyun received a BBA in Finance and BS in Mathematics from the University of Michigan’s Stephen M. Ross School of Business and College of LSA, respectively. Hyun is actively involved in programs in support of growing the broader AAPI community and is an aspiring scratch golfer. He is also a passionate restauranteur, having co-founded the award winning omakase restaurant, the Office of Mr. Moto, in New York City.
Hyun Koo is a Partner at March Capital where he primarily focuses on vertical AI applications, identifying inspiring tech entrepreneurs who are solving mission-critical problems in large, growing markets. Hyun has board responsibilities at March portfolio companies Altana, Luminance, and Rosie.
Growing up in Seoul, Singapore, and New York, Hyun developed people skills and an interest in global markets early in life. After completing his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan (BBA, Finance; BS, Mathematics), Hyun began his career in investment banking covering media, consumer internet, and enterprise software. Prior to March, Hyun was at Allen & Company, where he executed M&A, equity financing, and various strategic assignments for some of world’s leading technology companies. Throughout his career, Hyun has had the privilege of working with many market-leading companies across all stages (seed to large cap public) and alongside many successful CEOs, which has helped him build a deep understanding of various business models, financials, successful leadership qualities, and the private & public markets.
In 2020, after close to a decade in investment banking, Hyun was looking for a new way to leverage his expertise in technology and rapidly transforming industries. This search led him to March, with whose leadership team, exceptional track record, and company values he was already familiar. Hyun was recognized on Business Insider’s 2023 Rising Stars of VC list.
