Dr. Mokarram completed his PhD at Georgia Institute of Technology and a fellowship at Stanford University in Biodesign Innovation. His contributions have been recognized through numerous honors, including Georgia Tech’s 40 Under 40 distinction and multiple awards for research and innovation leadership.

Nassir Mokarram, PhD is a scientist, entrepreneur, and venture investor working at the intersection of innovation, and capital. He serves as Director of Venture Investments at Emory Investment Management, where he helps steward long-term growth of university’s endowment  through partnerships with leading venture capital firms.

In parallel, Nassir is the Executive Director of the Emory BioFoundry Institute, an internal seed-stage venture platform that accelerates the translation of academic breakthroughs into commercial ventures by providing early capital and support. He also holds an academic appointment as Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at Emory University, where his NIH-supported research focuses on developing advanced bioengineering strategies for treating malignant brain tumors.  

Nassir is the co-founder of Exvade Bioscience, a clinical-stage company developing the Tumor Monorail Device, an FDA Breakthrough-designated technology that represents a novel approach to treating aggressive cancers by redirecting invasive tumor cells away from healthy tissue toward a safe, accessible reservoir for improved monitoring and treatment.
