Sungjoon Cho
Sungjoon received his MBA from Columbia Graduate School of Business, MS in Electrical Engineering from Seoul National University, and BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign.
Sungjoon's second job, hobbies, and entertainment are all provided by his 8 year old twins and 2 year old daughter.
Sungjoon Cho is the Founder & Managing Partner of Fortitude Ventures, a Silicon Valley-based venture capital firm focused on early stage AI and Robotics powered autonomy. Fortitude leverages unique relationships with leading Korean business families and prominent founders to develop differentiated investment theses and provide support for portfolio companies globally.
Fortitude is currently deploying a fully closed $21M Fund I across two complementary strategies:
- Primary: U.S. Early-Stage Investing
Investing in AI and robotics companies in the U.S., with 14 portfolio companies to date across sectors such as AI and robotics infrastructure, autonomous systems for defense, and vertical AI.
- Secondary: Korea-Based Company Creation
Incubating globally oriented companies in Korea with the ambition to scale internationally - applying a Silicon Valley-proven company building model to a market with deep industrial and technology strengths, but with a gap in capital willing to back moonshot ideas.
As a member of Class 25, Sung is serving his fellowship at D20 Capital under the mentorship of Seth Levine (Foundry Group).
