Shane has built his career as an investment professional, investment banker, and entrepreneur in the US. As a Co-Founding Partner, Shane leads Shorooq Partners, a leading early-stage, technology- focused venture capital fund in the Middle East and North Africa.
Prior to founding Shorooq, Shane was transitioning to Mubadala Capital's VC team. He has worked at UBS, TD Securities, Lazard Freres & Co., Alpine Investors and GlobalFoundries (a wholly owned subsidiary by Mubadala Investment Company).
He was named one of Forbes' Middle East '30 Under 30' in 2019.
Education, Personal, and Fellowship
Shane concentrated in Finance and Mandarin at The Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, graduating Summa Cum Laude, Joseph Wharton Scholar and Benjamin Franklin Scholar Honors.
Shane was born and grew up in South Korea; he studied and worked in the US, Canada, and China prior to settling down in UAE. Having played the piano and clarinet for over 15 years, he has a strong passion for musical performance; he also enjoys community service and is an active volunteer.
Shane is serving his fellowship at Shorooq Partners as a member of Class 24 under the mentorship of Partner Mahmoud Adi.
