Jenny Barba

Features Capital

Jenny Barba is the Founder and Managing Partner of Features Capital, an early-stage medical device venture capital firm. Jenny brings over 23 years of strategic and financial advisory experience from her work with venture backed and growth healthcare companies, primarily focused in the medical device sector. 

Jenny was previously a Principal at BioVentures Investors, a MedTech investment fund in Boston, where she was a member of the investment committee, and responsible for sourcing, diligence, investor relations, strategic and financing advisory for the BioVentures portfolio. Prior to BioVentures, Jenny was a Consultant with Sirius International Insurance Group, where she specialized in alternative investments, including venture capital, private equity and direct investments. Jenny was also Vice President, Healthcare Investment Banking at Piper Jaffray & Co., where she successfully executed financings, mergers and acquisitions for public and private medical device companies totaling over $4 billion in over twenty transactions. Jenny's background includes working as a Client Advisor at Marsh & McLennan on the healthcare brokerage team and as an Analyst in the healthcare investment banking team at Hambrecht and Quist (JP Morgan H&Q). Jenny began her career as a Research Associate at the Parkinson’s Institute.

Jenny serves on the Board of Trustees of the Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital, an affiliate of Dartmouth-Health, the Michigan Translational Research and Commercialization for Life Sciences Innovation Hub Oversight Committee, the DRIVEN Accelerator External Advisory Committee, the Upper Valley MedTech Collaborative Steering Committee, and is a guest lecturer at University of Michigan Ross School of Business and University of Vermont. Jenny is active with the American Heart Association and served for three years as a regional Chair of the Go Red Executive Leadership Team, and for six years as a Board Member of the National Nordic Foundation.

Jenny lives in Norwich, Vermont with her family, where they can be found skiing, making apple cider, maple syrup and exploring the trails. 

Education, Personal, and Fellowship

Jenny earned her BA in Neuroscience from Colorado College and her MBA and MHSA from University of Michigan.

As a member of Class 26, Jenny is serving her fellowship at BioVentures Investors under the mentorship of Pam Nightingale.
