Laura Yao

EQT Ventures

Laura is a Deal Partner at EQT Ventures and founding member of the fund's US office. She has led or been involved in EQT's investments in Handshake, Darkstore, Headspin, and others.

Prior to EQT, Laura ran the commercial side of Kairos Aerospace, a startup aiming to mitigate the effects of climate change through inexpensive sensors and data science. Before that, she worked at Bridgewater Associates, one of the world's largest hedge funds, as a global macro investor.

She started her career as the founder of a startup called The PhenomList, which helped tech companies discover and hire tech talent.

Education, Personal, and Fellowship

Laura was born in China and moved at a young age to Tallahassee, Florida. She graduated from Yale with a BA in economics and mathematics, and went on to get her MBA from Stanford. She enjoys hiking, camping, going to shows, Saturdays in Dolores Park, and reading, both fiction and nonfiction.

Laura is serving her fellowship at EQT Ventures as a member of Class 24 under the mentorship of Partner Alastair Mitchell.
