Christina Jenkins

Phoenix Venture Partners

Christina Jenkins MD ("CJ") is a venture investor and strategic advisor with expertise spanning clinical medicine, health systems, and health plans.  She is a Venture Partner at PVP, where she co-leads the firm’s investment strategy in the healthcare/life sciences vertical for its Fund III and seed funds.


She has keen interest in underinvested populations:  she is a Lead Partner for Portfolia's Femtech and Active Aging  Funds, focusing on devices and tech-enabled services to improve the health and well-being of women and the aging.  She is a National Advisor to Manatt Health (strategy/policy arm of Manatt, Phelps & Phillips), supporting "traditional" provider and other healthcare organizations that seek to transform from within.


Previously, Dr. Jenkins was the founding CEO of OneCity Health Services, a subsidiary of NYC Health + Hospitals, the nation’s largest public hospital system.  There, she led a $1.2B effort to redesign the care delivery continuum and accelerate readiness for value-based payments (financial risk) for 1M lives, creating a 200-organization partnership and implementing tech-enabled care models in community and in-hospital settings. 


She is a board member or observer of PVP portfolio companies Xandar Kardian, FIGUR8, and Biotia.  She is board member of PE-backed company Help at Home, and an advisory board member of Independence Health Group (parent of Independence Blue Cross and AmeriHealth Caritas).  Previously, she was Mayor Bloomberg's appointee to the board of NYC Health + Hospitals and Chair of its Quality & Performance Committee.

Dr. Jenkins earned her B.S. in Industrial Management at Purdue University and her M.D. from Northwestern University, where she was Class President.  She was a Clinical Instructor of Medicine at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, where she also completed her residency.   She is a member of Kauffman Fellows Class 10, completing her fellowship at New Enterprise Associates.  Prior to medical school, Dr. Jenkins was a financial analyst (FMP) for GE Healthcare.

Education, Personal, and Fellowship

Christina earned her B.S in Industrial Management from Purdue University, her M.D. from Northwestern University, and completed her internal medicine residency training and served as a Clinical Instructor at Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York City.

Christina is a member of Kauffman Fellows Class 10 and served her fellowship under mentor James Barrett at NEA, in Germantown, MD.
